Amy Blaschke Music
Raised in the mist-veiled wilds of Washington State, Amy Blaschke began playing guitar at 14 and was performing in Seattle venues by 16. Influenced by the raw confessional intimacy of Liz Phair, Elliott Smith, and Mary Lou Lord—alongside a well-worn cassette of Blue by Joni Mitchell—Blaschke’s songwriting has always walked the tightrope between vulnerability and vision.
She released her debut album Red Letter in 1999, beginning a discography that now spans seven full-length records—each one a spell of poetic impression, melodic minimalism, and emotional atmosphere. Blaschke’s dreamy, singular voice drifts through her music like a lantern—at once grounded and otherworldly, raw and transcendent.
Her most recent studio album, Newage Daydream, is a surreal-noir song cycle blending vintage warmth and futuristic textures. Think Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell's moonchild floating through Blade Runner skies. The album, produced and mixed by Joshua Grange at Resistor Studio in Nashville, reclaims the word “Newage” as an invitation into transformation, not cliché.
In 2025, Blaschke began a new phase of creative release with Grist for the Mill—a raw, home-recorded demo that marks the beginning of a monthly series. These songs return to her lo-fi roots: stripped-down, soul-forward, and deeply personal. It's a return to the wellspring of her songwriting life, where imperfection becomes intimacy and clarity cuts through the static.
2025 and 2026 mark the ten-year anniversaries of OPALINE and Breaking the Blues, recorded in quick succession in LA. Produced by Brian Whelan, engineered and mixed by Mark Rains at Station House Studio in Echo Park, these two albums are two of Amy's favorites. Commemorative merch and special editions are in the works—honoring the timeless ache and atmosphere of those sibling records.
Blaschke’s music now lives at home on Mystic Quarterly—the current epicenter of her creative constellation. As an artist weaving music, artwork, and astrology into multimedia offerings, MQ is where all threads converge, reflect, and resonate.
